There's an idea of strength that sounds good in theory.

You get up. Show up. You do the thing, and the other thing, and the thing after that. More things. But somewhere in all of these things, you think, is this right? Am I wasting my time? Is there a better way?

I know this version from experience and also from observation.

I taught Pilates for years while running on fumes; two kids, a house, several diagnoses, surgery, and a body that was sending up smoke signals I was too busy to pay attention to.

Pilates wasn’t the magic pill to fix all of this, but it was the one place where I kept coming back to myself — where I could listen to my body and understand it.

That's what this programme is: not a workout— a way back. And a way forward. One you can rely on.

Lightwell is a bright and airy boutique classical Pilates studio on the West Sussex, Hampshire, Surrey border near Liphook, UK

My goal is to make you happier, stronger, more resilient— empowered through intelligent movement.

Whether you’re seeking to

  • gain strength, stamina and flexibility

  • alleviate pain

  • Boost mood and reduce stress

  • improve posture and coordination

  • recover from injury

  • prepare and/or recover from childbirth

  • improve your game

  • or simply learn something new and feel great in the process

the Pilates method is a tool and a tonic to be drawn on whenever and wherever you require— an antidote to modern life's challenges and hazards.

The studio is equipped with equipment by Pilates Design by Basil of NYC, giving clients the full benefit of the classical Pilates method, 1:1 or in duets.

I also run small group mat classes locally, offer Zoom tutorials (25 or 55 minutes), and have built a virtual video library with tutorials, tests, and practice lessons guiding you from beginner to advanced.

  • Founder

Hi, I’m Jennifer Palmer, the sole owner and teacher at Lightwell. I’ve been practicing Pilates since 2000 and completed the rigorous, comprehensive classical training at LA’s Whole Body Method in early 2013, allowing me to teach all levels of the Classical Pilates method on all apparatus. I’ve since trained under teachers from The Pilates Center and been most inspired and influenced by the legacy of first generation teachers Kathy Grant and Romana.

The aim of my teaching is to encourage you to get curious about your body and learn with it what makes it happy, hale and hearty. Pilates should be accessible and above all else fun. Together we will identify limitations and tailor the work, resulting in quicker results, deeper understanding, and better posture and habits.

I’m very much a continuing education nut and when my two young/ crazy boys allow, I jump into classes and seminars with teachers around the world not only in the realm of Pilates but other disciplines as well. This translates to my Podcast The WellyWalk — a story-driven journey through transformation, neuroscience, and the project of building a life that truly feels like you.

Join me in the studio, online through my video library (Cup o Joe) and courses, and on my Podcast, and we can learn and grow together.

I love my Pilates class with Jenny, she is so knowledgeable and I leave the classes feeling great. Jenny delivers the instruction and info in a clear and relaxed way and on top of that she’s such a lovely person. I would highly recommend her classes for all levels.

Jenny is fabulous and an excellent teacher. Pilates is completely new to me and it has been working wonders for my back issues and I feel my core strengthening already. I highly recommend Jenny’s classes.

I’ve tried so many different types of exercise over the years. Nothing works as fast or as well as Jenny’s Pilates! Snaps you into shape in 10 sessions.
— Charlie (studio client)
Jenny is a fantastic teacher, patient and encouraging for a total novice like me, and very knowledgable. I look forward to going every week and don’t try and wriggle out of it like every other exercise class. As well as feeling the benefits, I have fun!
